Hayley Potter (MA RCA)

Hayley Potter is an Illustrator, Writer & Lecturer. She was born and raised in Kent - ‘The Garden of England’. Hayley’s work has evolved from a fascination and passion for creating, investigating and writing about magical and fictional worlds and characters. Hayley studied Fine Art at The Kent Institute of Art & Design, Illustration at Falmouth College of Arts and Norwich School of Art & Design, and completed her education by graduating from The Royal College of Art in 2007 with a Masters Degree in Communication Art & Design. She has also studied Creative Writing at The Imperial College, London and Writing for Children with the Arvon Foundation.

Since graduating from the Royal College of Art, Hayley has continued to live in London. Choosing to move to the leafiest part of London she could find – so that walking in the woods, being surrounded by wildlife, and visiting enchanting gardens remains an important part of her creative process. She is also a member of London Zoo – where she spends many hours drawing and photographing the animals.

Hayley has a studio in South West London, where she works on various commissions and Authorial projects. She has exhibited as a solo artist and in group shows around London. Amongst other things, Hayley is currently working on a set of sequential images for a new children’s book that illustrate a story she has written.
